Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how Nudje works, what it costs, and what happens to your data.
The basics
What is Nudje?
Nudje is a privacy-first reminder app for iPhone and Android. You set recurring reminders — drink water, take medication, move, read — and respond to each with Complete, Reject, or Snooze. Its signature feature is optional escalation: reminders get a little firmer if you keep ignoring them, up to a cap you choose.
Does Nudje work without an account?
Yes, completely. The free app never asks you to sign up; everything is stored on your phone. An account exists only for the optional Nudje+ cloud sync.
Does Nudje work offline?
Yes. Reminders are scheduled and fired entirely on your device, so they work with no connection at all. Only optional cloud sync needs the internet.
Which languages does Nudje speak?
English and Turkish at launch, with Brazilian Portuguese and German next. Reminder phrases are written natively per language — not machine-translated — because a nudge only works when it sounds like a person, not a template.
What does “escalation” actually do?
If you repeatedly ignore or reject a reminder, the next one uses a firmer sound and firmer wording — level 1 is gentle, level 3 is insistent. Completing the reminder resets it instantly, snoozing is neutral, and it's capped at the maximum you set. It's off by default and never fires an escalated sound during quiet hours, so there is no way to create an un-silenceable alarm in Nudje.
Is there a reminder app that keeps reminding you until you do it?
Yes — that is exactly what Nudje's escalation is for. Most reminder apps fire once and give up; Nudje keeps nudging, a little firmer each time you ignore or reject it, until you respond. It never becomes an un-silenceable alarm: you set the cap, completing resets the tone instantly, and quiet hours always stay gentle.
Is Nudje good for ADHD?
Many people with ADHD tell us the problem isn't setting reminders — it's that a single notification is swiped away before it registers. Nudje's escalation is built for that: it keeps re-nudging with firmer wording until you respond, and one Complete resets it. Streaks forgive a bad day or two instead of punishing them. Nudje is a reminder tool, not a treatment, and it isn't medical advice.
Is Nudje the same app as Nudge?
No. Nudje (nudje.app) is the privacy-first reminder app for iPhone and Android made by Nameverse — no account, no tracking, end-to-end encrypted sync, and escalating reminders. Apps named “Nudge” are unrelated products by other companies.
Will Nudje drain my battery?
No. Nudje schedules its reminders with the operating system's alarm and notification services and doesn't run in the background between them. There's no continuous location, motion, or network activity.
Privacy & data
Can Nudje's developers read my reminders?
No. In the free app your reminders never leave your phone. With Nudje+ cloud sync, reminders are end-to-end encrypted on your device before upload — our servers store ciphertext we cannot decrypt. This isn't a policy promise; the encryption keys simply never reach us.
Does Nudje track me or sell data?
Never. There is no advertising identifier, no ATT prompt on iPhone, no cross-app tracking, and nothing is ever sold. Crash reports and optional usage analytics are anonymous and go to servers we host ourselves, with no third-party processors.
Why do I see ads, and are they tracking me?
The free app shows one low-frequency, contextual banner to cover our fixed costs. It is non-personalized: no profile, no advertising ID, no tracking. In the EU, UK, and Switzerland the app shows no ads at all, and both paid tiers remove ads everywhere.
What happens if I lose my recovery code?
If you still have a signed-in device, sign out and set sync up again to get a new code. If all devices are gone too, the synced data cannot be recovered — by us or anyone. That is the honest cost of zero-knowledge encryption: the same math that stops us reading your data stops us resetting it.
Is Nudje GDPR / KVKK / LGPD compliant?
Yes by design: no account required, data minimization throughout, EU data hosting for sync, export and deletion built into the app, analytics off-by-default in the EU, and consent dialogs where ads run in Brazil and Türkiye. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Pricing
What's free and what's paid?
The free app is fully useful: unlimited reminders, all languages, escalation, streaks, and local backup. Nudje Lifetime is a one-time purchase that removes ads forever and includes maintenance updates. Nudje+ is a subscription that adds end-to-end encrypted sync, backup, and family/caregiver profiles — with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan.
Why doesn't the lifetime purchase include cloud sync?
Because sync runs on servers that cost money every month, and a one-time payment funding servers forever would eventually be dishonest — either to you or to our other users. So Lifetime covers everything that lives on your device, and sync stays with the subscription. You can add Nudje+ on top of a Lifetime purchase at any time.
Does one subscription cover my family?
Yes. Nudje+ supports the App Store's Family Sharing and Google Play's family library, so one subscription covers your family group — including caregiver profiles.
How do I cancel?
In your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, any time. Your access continues until the end of the paid period, and your local data always stays yours.
Family & caregiving
Can I manage reminders for my parent or child?
Yes — that's what caregiver profiles are for. If they don't carry a phone, a managed profile fires their reminders on your device. If they do, a linked profile fires on theirs while you see completion status — set up only with a code they accept on their own phone.
Can someone monitor me with Nudje without my knowledge?
No. Linking always requires a code accepted on your own device, every connection is listed under “Who can see this profile”, and you can unlink yourself with one tap, instantly, without anyone's approval.
Is Nudje a medical device?
No. Nudje is a reminder app — not a medical device and not medical advice. Medication reminders support your routine but never replace professional care, and pill reminders deliberately stay calm and respectful at every escalation level.
Troubleshooting
Reminders stopped arriving on my Android phone. Why?
Almost always the manufacturer's battery manager (Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, Oppo…) silently stopped the app. Open Nudje → Settings → Battery optimization and exempt it; on Xiaomi also enable Autostart. The docs' Troubleshooting page walks through every cause in order of likelihood.
Why is escalation delayed on iPhone?
iPhone fixes a notification's sound at scheduling time — a platform rule for every app. Nudje refreshes its queue whenever the app opens or iOS grants background refresh, so escalation “catches up” when you check back in. On Android it ramps in real time.
Can I move from Android to iPhone (or the other way)?
Yes, two ways: export a backup file on one phone and import it on the other (the format is identical on both platforms), or use Nudje+ sync where your recovery code unlocks your data on any platform.
